It is my greatest honour to receive the DJ Mag Top 100 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award. I accepted this award on behalf of Manchester – it’s such a rare occasion when anything like this is awarded North of Watford plus I have a sneaking suspicion that I am the first woman (black woman) to win it which makes it even more special and historic. This is also to prove that you don’t have to be an Instagram influencer with millions of followers to make your mark. If you can make a difference, be fearless and make a difference. This is also for anyone who gets knocked down nine times and stands up ten. I see you. And so do they.
I join three fabulous humans for this feature that was published in The Guardian Culture on Thursday July 21st, 2022. PDF courtesy of The Guardian with thanks to Nicholas Pritchard.
Massive thanks to Sekeenat Karim Lissi Simpson and HOME Mcr for this beautiful film ‘Black Creatives: In Conversation’ in celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth2021 – short watch 15 minutes. Subscribe to Home’s channel on YouTube. Trigger warning – discusses trauma and sexual assault.
True House Stories Episode 054 was broadcast Wednesday August 4th with ‘a truly fabulous female DJ from the UK’. Guess who that guest is?
Wednesday August 4th you can catch me in session with house music royalty as I am being interviewed by Lenny Fontana for his online show True House Stories. Episode 54 will be on air from 7pm – 9pm (BST)
Next stop on the HEAR HEAR journey around the world for International Women’s month (because a day is nowhere near enough time to show all the women who influence and inspire us some love) is Manchester. In Episode 4 I celebrate the Divine Feminine version 18.104.22.168 with a true Manchester legend, celebrity, singer, Manchester United fan, dog lover and my HEAR HEAR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH ICON – ROWETTA (MCR, UK). She’s a Proper Mancunian with a heart of gold and I’m honoured to have gained an audience with this absolute Queen.
In celebration of the Divine Feminine and for International Women’s Month version 22.214.171.124. I’ve crossed the Atlantic landing in NYC for a Zoom audience with all round powerhouse, artist, producer, remixer, dj, fearless activist and cat whisperer LAUREN FLAX. She’s a New Yorker from Detroit and she has a lot of tea to spill.
I invited the powerhouse Heléna Star (Foundation FM) to do a guest mix and an interview to close out 2020’s isolation shows with a flourish.
Welcome to Voices by Black Bandcamp; a mixed media series of interviews with talented Black artists and music industry members, where we champion the voices of Black people within the global electronic music sphere. Part one of a two part interview.
Youtube Premiere for new content. Meet Heléna Star – presenter (Foundation FM and DJ). We’re accentuating the positive through the lens of the pandemic. So here it is. HEAR HEAR. the lunch break interlude you need now, full of help, blessings, advice, guidance and lots of laughter.
Anyone who loves to rave, loves what the rave and raving represents and misses it can enjoy this beautiful, short film by Manchester Metropolitan University’s Dr. Beate Peter.

Over three beautiful days in August, the battle cry was ‘don’t let the virus get you down’ as We Out Here Festival and Reform Radio showed everybody how it’s done, provided the online, underground contrast, powerful political platform and the shining stage for talks, djs, artists and screenings for all that’s good from Manchester to London and around the world too.

I don’t really do video interviews at home because I feel weird talking to myself but I said yes to @playitlouder1 (asking nicely generally gets a positive result. I’m a sucker for good manners) Anyway - the questions were cute so here is Part 1. Part 2 to follow. Follow @playitlouder1 for more DJ interviews - last ones I’ve seen were @graemepark and @djtoddterry . . . . . . . #interview #video #djpaulette #igtv #part1 #playitlouder #djinterview #blackwomanpower #blackgirlmagic
A little while ago Play It Louder messaged me on my Instagram account and asked if I would do an interview for their page. Here is part one of a two part post.
Welcome to my interview for ‘The Edit’. It’s all about titanium ceilings, purple sequins and no requests in this podcast with Loreal Blackett. Get into it.
On the 28th of April – a friend of mine (Facebook pseudo Candy Mac Crevure) messaged me to say that she had suggested me as a guest on Joachim Garraud’s daily show online. That same day I received an email from Joachim himself to set the date. Here is the result. Interview is 90% in (really rusty / bad) french – no subtitles, but you can still look at the pictures if you don’t understand 😀
Hacienda House Party-Part II-Live Stream made the BBC News last night. Over a million streams and no-one in the room. I make a little cameo in the clip, created by Hilly MC. Wonderful stuff. #livestream #virtualfestival #thisismcr
This week The Guardian Fashion ran a cute feature written by Dino Bonačić and entitled: “Nightlife in quarantine: what club kids are wearing in lockdown” It contains a series of 10 short interviews and I am gassed to say that I am one of them.
The full three minute interview for FREEDA EN ‘For The Record’is now available on Youtube. Drop a like if you’re feeling it. Share it if you feel inspired. Whatever you feel … Enjoy.
A short while ago (which feels like a lifetime now) I met up with the wonderful Cherrelle Redley and her razor sharp team from FREEDA to be interviewed for their gorgeous website. They have created this wonderful interview clip which achieved 13,000 views in two days of posting. I am proud of that.
Here’s a deep but quick read courtesy of Elephant Magazine (art publication). Thank you Arwa Haider for the love and the words and thank you Elephant for the platform to raise my rebel voice.
How about this for a Happy New Year curve ball? I’m bringing in my New Year with a cameo interview on Inside Track / Worklife on BBC News on Friday January 03rd, 2020.

Join us at a free entry daytime event in the birthplace of the Suffragette movement, Manchester. I’ll be closing the event with a short QnA.
A funny thing happened on my way through Deansgate the other week. It went live today – Monday September 2nd, 2019 from 12 noon and can be found on @itunes @spotify and @acaststories

SWEET HARMONY / RAVE TODAY opens at the Saatchi Gallery on Friday 12th of July. My interview in the accompanying coffee table book is illustrated by the works of four of my favourite photographers Lee Baxter, Daniel Newman, Lou Rhodes and Andrew Aitch. Who’d have thought those four pictures would find their way to the #SaatchiGallery, eh?
I spoke to Resident Advisor’s rapier sharp interviewer Martha Pazienti Caidan about life, the world, the universe, dj’ing, the music industry, equality, diversity and talking to slugs. It’s a 90 minute listen that you can download and listen to on Itunes and add to your Spotify collection too. I can’t tell a lie, this is very much a dj #goals #bucketlist moment for me. #proud #gratitude – and huge thanks to Mark, Martha and all at Resident Advisor for making me feel so welcome on the day.
I am really looking forward to speaking on this panel today and watching the two episodes #Work and #Dress of Pandora’s Box featuring the award winning Joan Bakewell. Event starts at 15.20 sharp!!
