It’s Welcome To The Club book launch day – here’s something that Manchester’s Finest made.
Here is the playlist of the story and the discography at the back of Welcome To The Club in its Spotify form. Enjoy at your leisure.
I am sitting in for the legend that is Craig Charles on the Craig Charles Funk And Soul show on BBC Radio 6 Music.
DJ Paulette recorded live at E Soul Cultura at Escape To Freight Island 28/05/2023. Enjoy.
September’s all star guest for the Paulette Takeover on Reform Radio is Razor N Tape’s JKRIV – we are not worthy.
Welcome to Accaliberation a two-hour celebration of the beauty of vocals, lyrics and songs. This month I’m in a Virgo and Libran mood, celebrating the birthdays of Gary Bartz, Archie Bell, Dee Dee Sharp-Gamble, Marlena Shaw and Taana Gardner. Dive in, the water here is lovely.
Recording of DJ Paulette’s set at Dekmantel Selectors 2021.
Sweltering in the current heat, I remembered Spike Lee’s ‘Do The Right Thing’ and thought ‘why not share some of my favourite black music from movie soundtracks for my show on Worldwide FM?’. So this is what I’ve done.
For July’s second Reform Radio Takeover (yes to those five week months) – my guest mix controls were blessed by Henriquez – one of the residents for the mighty Mancunians – Zutekh. It’s a beautifully eclectic mix which is deep, techy and electronic and I am sure you will show him plenty of love with the listens!
Keeping it fresh and up to date, here is my July Reform Radio Takeover with one of Chicago’s finest, DJ Heather, at the controls for this month’s guest mix.
I am proud and honoured to take the opportunity to update your mix supply with downloadable, stellar guest mix from real house music royalty – Fred Everything (Canada). I drop some new tunes as usual for the second part of the show. You know the coup. Feel free to like, subscribe and leave a welcome back comment. Next month’s guest is DJ Heather so if you want to hear that too ..leave a message.
DJ PAULETTE presents TOGETHER is about bringing all the DJs and the Manchester community together – waking up and gently moving out of the lockdown to celebrate as one at our mini festival in the sunshine. There’s food, there’s drink, it’s family AND dog friendly, it’s fully socially distanced fun, it’s enjoying music with real people IN REAL LIFE and best of all – it’s FREE. It’s on from May 31 – August 13, 2021. Read on.
This is the live stream that was shot by Steve Machin (Concert Vision) at my residency PEOPLE LIKE US at Escape To Freight Island for The Chill Out Tent After Party on the 21/05/21.
Welcome to Press Play! – A new concept for Twitch, where DJs share their genre-non conforming knowledge, beats and basslines. It’s a game of 90 minutes that nearly didn’t make it to air thanks to my Anker Hub exploding and my not having a back up (a lesson learned, back up bought and thank you full moon). But after half an hour of nerve wracking, technical jiggery pokery – the lovely (and very patient) Dave Brown Face Timed me – and my WFH set up – right back on air … and for that I owe him a great debt of gratitude. Enjoy.
Next stop on the HEAR HEAR journey around the world for International Women’s month (because a day is nowhere near enough time to show all the women who influence and inspire us some love) is Manchester. In Episode 4 I celebrate the Divine Feminine version 2.0.2.1 with a true Manchester legend, celebrity, singer, Manchester United fan, dog lover and my HEAR HEAR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH ICON – ROWETTA (MCR, UK). She’s a Proper Mancunian with a heart of gold and I’m honoured to have gained an audience with this absolute Queen.
In celebration of the Divine Feminine and for International Women’s Month version 2.0.2.1. I’ve crossed the Atlantic landing in NYC for a Zoom audience with all round powerhouse, artist, producer, remixer, dj, fearless activist and cat whisperer LAUREN FLAX. She’s a New Yorker from Detroit and she has a lot of tea to spill.
Welcome to accaliberation, my monthly celebration of the voice in all its guises and glory. This month I’m serving a post-St Valentine’s antidote of r n b, blues and soul, disco and house killer slings and Cupid’s arrows . Music this month comes from the mouths and minds of a genre-hopping roll call which includes Sofia Karlsberg, FKA Twigs, Unkle, Slum Village, Jill Scott, Millie Jackson, Dexter Wansel, Syreeta, Tamiko Jones, Goshawk and Erik Rico, Sunburst Band, Jansons, Conclave and many more.Who needs roses eh? On air Saturday 27th of February from 21.00 – 23.00 GMT. Come through.
Happy New Year and Welcome to the first Accaliberation of 2021. Since National Lockdown has been recommissioned for series 3, this month’s story time focuses on the theme of ’Never Alone’. I call on some soulful sages and wise wordsmiths from Soulclap, The Beatles, James Brown, Fame Gospel Choir, Marco Faraone, Bobbi Humphrey, Patrice Rushen, Brainstorm, Blaze and many more to channel a message of how we can make our way through this lockdown and the pandemic with dignity, a smile and a sweaty body. It’s a soul, funk, disco, house genre-hopper and tells an isolation story like only music and lyrics can.
Welcome to Episode 2 of ‘HEAR HEAR’. Consciously uncoupled from my Reform Radio show, it’s my chance to share the wisdom and joy of some extraordinary people in a lockdown regulated session that is exclusive to my YouTube channel. I am blessed and schooled this month by the inspirational and unfuckwithable Jamz Supernova. She’s a BBC 1Xtra and Selector Radio powerhouse and the brains behind the Future Bounce parties and record label and she brings the fire in some beautiful ways.
Here’s my Christmas-ish (and birthday-ish) show for Accaliberation. I’ve popped some random thoughts about 2020 and my hopes for 2021 into a blender to make a fun, super smoothie. Everyone from The Avalanches, Clarence Carter, J Boogie, Donny Hathaway provide a tangential perspective on my isolation Christmas.
I invited the powerhouse Heléna Star (Foundation FM) to do a guest mix and an interview to close out 2020’s isolation shows with a flourish.
It doesn’t seem that long ago when my Takeover was blessed with the honour of hosting French house music royalty. Enjoy the show where David Duriez schooled us all. Feel free to leave a comment and plenty of love for my 9th isolation takeover for Reform Radio.
