Glastonbury Festival as we know it did not happen this year, but in amongst the timber, paint and theatre props at Block9’s London warehouse HQ, a broadcast ran from 9pm till 3am showcasing DJ sets from Norman Jay MBE, Heidi , DJ Paulette and Batu_music for each of their Glastonbury Festival venues – Maceo’s, NYC Downlow, Genosys and IIcon. This is your link to view the show again.

blast from the past... with @dj_paulette1 and @normanjaymbe back in 98 on the eve of a short lived but tremendous residency we all held together in the Eve Club on Regent Street... the thought of clubbing in the West End now feels like a bygone age... but this was a Thursday night and having DJ Paulette inside the press room at Phonogram at the time meant we could make good use of her contacts in the photography world.... so here @mrperou came through for us! Paulette was already well established back then as a pioneering DJ from Manchester who I’d managed to convince to come and boost the Talkin Loud soldiers at a time when @ronisizebristol and @louievega / @kdope50 ‘s Nu Yorican Soul @carlcraignet ‘s Innerzone Orchestra and 4 Hero were all unleashing some important works for the label....in reflection this was a golden age and Paulette was certainly a force to be reckoned with behind the decks teaching Norman and I a lesson or 10.... great to see Paulette is still roaming the planet with her box of musical delights and all round goodness... seeing her spinning at @weoutherefest was one of the highlights for me... she’ll be spinning at many of next summer’s festivals - make sure you catch her if you can!
In the words of Gilles Peterson: blast from the past… with @dj_paulette1 and @normanjaymbe back in 98 on the eve of a short lived but tremendous residency we all held together in the Eve Club on Regent Street… the thought of clubbing in the West End now feels like a bygone age
Here is the listen back to my first live show from the brand spanking new Reform Radio studios in Manchester. This month I was honoured with the patronage of a real life MBE – Norman Jay MBE. He’s probably the first person with an MBE to be heard on the station and a definite first for my Takeover Shows. Enjoy.
