Resident Advisor writes:
DJ Paulette’s dance music resume is startlingly deep. While studying in university and working as a TV presenter in Manchester, she landed a residency at the legendary Hacienda gay party Flesh, where she learned to DJ “on the job,” as she says. After regularly DJing around other northern cities like Leeds, Sheffield and Nottingham in the early ’90s, she was eventually called down to Heaven in London and ultimately ended up with Ministry Of Sound, working both in London, Ibiza and around the world as a resident in their international touring crew. An Essential Mix, a host of residencies at clubs like Cocoon, Pikes and Mix Club, compilation credits for Nervous and Privilege, and decades worth of radio shows flesh out a multifaceted career that’s given her a unique perspective on dance music.
I spoke to Resident Advisor’s rapier sharp interviewer Martha Pazienti Caidan about life, the world, the universe, dj’ing, the music industry, equality, diversity and talking to slugs. It’s a 90 minute listen that you can download and listen to on Itunes and add to your Spotify collection too. I can’t tell a lie, this is very much a dj #goals #bucketlist moment for me. #proud #gratitude – and huge thanks to Mark, Martha and all at Resident Advisor for making me feel so welcome on the day.
