It’s the season of freaky funk and disco sparklers so here’s how and where you can plot your course through the season of changing colours, falling leaves and that seductive pull of bouncing basements and boogie bangers.
October 28th
Get your Halloween freak on at Pen and Pencil on Hilton Street. Entry is free, we’re open from 8 till 2, there’s Crystal Head frozen skull cocktails on the menu and prizes for the best dressed.
Friday November 3rd and 10th
I’ll be playing old skool hip hop, nu soul, go-go, jack swing and b-boy electro for all you Cool Hand Lukes and Lucy-s. Get your 8 Ball game face on with me at Black Dog Ballroom on New Wakefield Street, Manchester. Entry is free, remember to book your pool tables at the bar and I will see you there from 5pm – 11pm.
Saturday November 4th
I’ll be playing an early disco set from 5pm – 8pm at Cottonopolis before heading over to Hidden (near Strangeways) for Homoelectric aka the party of the month. It’s been a long time waiting in dog years but I am excited to have the opportunity to finally grace the hallowed CDJs in the basement, supporting the uber talents of Gina Breeze and Will Tramp. I will be twirling my house and tech baton for all I’m worth. And about the rest of the Homoelectric experience – it’s a Manchester vs London vs New York thing with Luke Solomon and HiFi Sean rocking the attic and the ever awesome Jamie Bull laying down the soulful, uplifting disco vibes in the company of New York legend, Nicky Siano on the middle floor. Do not miss. Get your advanced tickets on Skiddle. Only eleventeen more sleeps to go.
Sundays are Schloss Days – 5/26 Nov
… #SundayService is in session. It’s a disco, boogie, funk and soul extravaganza for me and Will Tramp every Sunday at Albert’s Schloss. AMC Gospel Choir raise the roof and lift your spirits and Manchester Show Choir put on a fine show of sterling pop and indie covers and show tunes on alternate weeks. Entrance is free and we’re open for breakfast from 10am, brunch from 12 and serve food until 10pm. Book tables in advance as we are often fully booked. Catch the choirs performing at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.
Friday November 11th
Smooth disco, funk and soulful vibes with fantastic Italian food and wine. I’m there from 9pm – 1.30am. Molto benne.
