I am so honoured to have been invited to contribute to this year’s Candlelight Vigil for Manchester Pride. If you have never heard of it then you should know that it is the culmination of the Manchester Pride festival. Taking place in the serene surroundings of Sackville Gardens, it is a moment of reflection which brings together LGBTQ+ communities and allies to remember those we have lost to HIV, and to stand united in the fight against the global epidemic and the persistent stigma that surrounds it.
It is a powerful symbol of remembrance, solidarity and hope.
Curated by Nathaniel J Hall, Kate O Donnell and Cheryl Martin, the Candlelight Vigil is an opportunity to highlight the challenges faced by our communities and create a united front.
