#ONAIR – GILLES PETERSON’S CLUB UNITY 06/06/2020

In response to the Music Industry’s Black Out Tuesday and Black Lives Matter, Gilles Peterson programme for Stay Home, Rave Safe on 6Music and his Saturday session became CLUB UNITY – a space for reflection, education and celebration through black music.

Gilles delivered a powerful, raw and heartfelt introduction before handing over the reins to a stellar line up including Neneh Cherry and Tyson, Adrian Sherwood, Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Steve Davis, Spacek and me. I created the ‘Stand Together’ room  with a twenty minute mini mix of tracks from Sounds of Blackness, The Valentine Brothers, The Staple Singers, Imagination, Adeva and Nina Simone – songs of optimism, resistance, celebration and liberation entirely recorded by black artists.

This programme is only available for twenty more days from today (15 June 2020) on the BBC official website and via the BBC Sounds app.
