This week I will mostly be hopping around like a mad March hare which is allowed and expected because a) it IS March (I know, already, Easter’s only just around the corner and b) because there are some amazing events in the pipeline and it would have been nuts not to get involved and c) I embrace my inner cray cray. Do you?

As you know it is 100 years since (some) women (ie the ones who OWNED their own properties and had their names on the title deeds) got the vote so this year’s International Women’s Day is coming at you full force. Now it’s time to OWN our womanhood and our EQUAL HUMAN RIGHTS and be courageous when making our voices heard. It’s time to roar. It’s time to come into our power and this week in Manchester there are plenty of opportunities to be inspired, to share and to do just that.

It’s all about the Ancoats General Store today as I take my headphones, usb sticks, wit and sparkling personality over to the Ancoats General Store for my debut guest mix on MCR LIVE. The show will air on International Women’s Day (Thursday March 8th) from 5pm – 7PM (GMT). Tune in. I might play a bit of disco with my house. Or maybe I’ll just crank out the tech. Or maybe I’ll just feature an all women production cast like last year? Who knows? It’ll be a surprise for us all. MCR LIVE? It’s home to Bondax, Dave Haslam and Will Tramp you know…

THURSDAY MARCH 8TH

REFORM RADIO 24 HOUR ALL FEMALE TAKEOVER, OLD GRANADA STUDIOS, DEANSGATE

Int Women Final (2)

Happy International Women’s Day to every person who identifies themselves as a woman. Today I celebrate your fierceness, your power, your strength, your caring, compassionate, nurturing spirit and your rebel yell. We remember the pioneers who made it possible for us to do and be and love how we do in 2018 and we campaogn for those who do not have those freedoms and are tortured or killed for wanting to live with those same freedoms. Today I am sending love to all women everywhere – to my twin sister, to my mother and sisters and nieces and cousins and aunties and friends and colleagues and associates and well just everyone. Respect in every aspect.

It’s a big day and I’ll be starting by bringing in the glamour with the amazing, celebrated trans icon, campaigner, actress, broadcaster, and theatre company owner, Ms Kate O’Donnell and Jackie Hagan. From 3pm – 4pm We will be sharing a panel with called ‘Me and My Box’.

The title is both provocative and playful – and steering away from the innuendos associated, we are hoping for the hour to focus on the topic of women in the workplace, especially creative workplaces and with the panel focusing on discussions between women in ’the arts’.

We were hoping to encourage discussion around ‘boxes’ and the way that boxes can both inhibit or potentially benefit us and effect our experience of working life with those around us, as women, as women in the arts, or as whatever box the world has put us in, or perhaps that we choose to be in. Join us – we’ll be playing a few relevant tunes too.

SHE:PWR – AN INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION – GORILLA, MANCHESTER

shepwr-artwork-final

I will be spending the evening at Gorilla for the She Pwr – International Women’s Day celebration.  They are transforming the club space into a lovely and lively place for listening, chatting, socialising and I’ll be yip yap yapping and spinning a few tunes during the early free session. Come one come all – tickets £8-£12 for an art / comedy / entertainment jamboree that’s raising funds for W.A.S.T (Women Asylum Seekers Together). Big ups to Sophie Bee and Laura Christou – I am so proud of – and to be working alongside you ladies.
