The Rex Club could not resist rending homage to this Manchester scene and welcomes Dave Haslam and Mike Pickering two of the principal figures in the Manchester and in fact the UK house music scene – and along with DJ Paulette welcomes three of the residents of the mythical club where Laurent Garnier made his first moves as a DJ.
As you know it is 100 years since (some) women (ie the ones who OWNED their own properties and had their names on the title deeds) got the vote so this year’s International Women’s Day is coming at you full force. Now it’s time to OWN our womanhood and our EQUAL HUMAN RIGHTS and be courageous when making our voices heard. It’s time to roar. It’s time to come into our power and this week in Manchester there are plenty of opportunities to be inspired, to share and to do just that.
Raving on a Sunday is a strange and wonderful beast. I’ve always loved it – back in the London day it was Lazy Dog and Sunday Sonic, then Vertigo at The Cross, Clandestino at The End and DTPM at Fabric. Then there my parties went bang every Sunday at at Les Agités in Paris until I left and got up to all manner of Ibiza skulduggery at Pikes. Forward wind to Manchester in 2018 and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Carol, DJ Rob Jones and Chris Massey recently tear into Underdog like Sunday was Friday and the weekend was never going to end. It’s no surprise then that I am massively excited to appear as the very special guest at Supernature on Sunday‘s February party. The residents here don’t mess and the regulars are similarly discerning.
This Sunday (25/02/18), the residents BB, Richie V and James the Cat are stepping in for an absent Rob Jones and I’ll be hoofing it straight from my Sunday Service at Schloss to close the proceedings with some disco, house and tech goodies in an hour of pure, unbridled mayhem.
Find us at Underdog on New Wakefield Street (you know the one underneath Black Dog Ballroom in those lush, Victorian arches). We’re there from 15.00 – 20.00 so you can still be home in time for tea and in bed by 10pm!!! You’ve no excuses. See you on the dancefloor!
As always FREE ENTRY!

February is all about high notes, high spots and high rollers as I work my way around the metropolis sprinkling my disco and house fairy dust on the twinkle toes of all who dare to dance.
I am totally buzzing in that busy bee kind of way, as I will be joining my Manchester family at Homoelectric at Hidden on Saturday January 27th for three floors of bacchanalian hedonism disguised as sedate clubbing.
So here we are and here we go again. It’s December. Yay. Which means we’re in the countdown to Christmas and New Year – double yay! 2017 has been like a musical drive-by that has had me holding you hostage on many a dance floor and you’ll be pleased to know that December continues in this tradition.
October / November. It’s the season of freaky funk and disco sparklers so here’s how and where you can plot your course through the season of changing colours, falling leaves and that seductive pull of bouncing basements and boogie bangers.
Remember, remember the 4th of November – for great music, raving and getting seriously hot. After the fun of August Bank Holiday’s three floor extravaganza, HomoElectric returns for another three floor takeover at Hidden in Manchester.
The end of August is upon us. Pretty soon we will all turn to disco dust. So get up, forget the past, go outside and have a blast… There’s a big weekend of parties coming to Manchester and everyone’s invited.
Join us for 3 days & 3 nights over the August bank holiday for the Come As You Are Weekender 2017!
A carefully curated gathering of outside street parties, DJs, food, drink, music, dancing, performance by House Of Decay, basement club parties & more as we celebrate Mardi Gras in Manchester.
Pride gets all Sunday on your ass with our glorious Handsome Party at Underdog on Sunday 27th of August. Dave Kendrick and Jamie Bull are crowning our right royal affair and I will be spreading the love like diamonds all over the goddamned place. Just like I do in this here mix.
My lovely boss, Dan (Pen and Pencil) is launching a disco club night called Lost In Music at Underdog (New Wakefield Street) here in Manchester, this one of a few in the pipeline and it’s happening on Friday July 28th.
Everybody down to Park Farm, Compton Verney in Warwickshire! Spend next weekend with us at the Also Festival and enjoy over 50 TED-style talks, our five stages packed with incredible music, comedy and fascinating masterclasses and experience our many bars and restaurants dotted around 50 acres of Capability Brown landscaped parkland.

Join us on May Bank Holiday for a specially curated gathering of all things food, drink, music and dancing whch will see the 10,000sq foot Refuge space and outside street evolve over 4 days to house a New York loft style party in the a basement, a proper old pub knees-up, an all-day Saturday courtyard Croatian gathering and a Sunday Balearic soiree reminiscent of the original spirit of the White Isle.
Follow the White Rabbit and The Easter Bunny and enjoy hopping across Manchester for some lovely Easter party vibes. Find me in Deansgate or The Northern Quarter. But when????
I am pleased as Mr and Mrs Punch to announce that I will be appearing again this year at Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend (Class of 2017 no less). Find me in the Gaydio Dance Arena. And did anyone say Faithless? Ben Pearce? Simian Mobile Disco?
Created to promote The Lost Disco Festival being held in Tisno, Croatia from August 17-21, our 1st mixtape comes from a full Manchester based (but worldwide known) DJ Paulette who explains fully what into her selections right here:
“I tried to telescope the best parts of a 24 hour bender into an hour mix.” I said …
‘Wahey! It’s a funk, soul, boogie, deep-disco-tech-house bonanza’ you said.
We are back for 2017. Sunday’s just got spiritual with Albert’s Schloss’ weekly ‘Sunday Service’. It’s a heady mix of the best disco, funk and soul music with a love injection of a live gospel choir, brunch and roast dinner on the menu and Paulette and Will Tramp on the decks from midday until 2am. Come early – doors open and 10am we close at 2am and we are full every week. Eat. Drink. Get Lifted. Entry is free. Roast is available until 10pm.
We’re back in Manchester on December 3rd with a bag full of pumpin’ house from vintage US to angular tech. Forget the winter chill, you’ll be sweating like an icecube in Riyadh once these beats have finished with you. It’s also my birthday. And you know what that means.
Proper house music all night long!
£5/8 on Skiddle / £10 on the door.
In the meantime to tide you over – a new Handsome mix from Dave:
On Sunday November 27th I head to the Ministry of Sound in London for the A Night In Paradise – daytime International Aids Day fundraiser dedicated to all things Paradise Garage. I will be joining hands (and record collections) with Terry Farley, Dave Kendrick, Jamie Bull and Martyn Fitzgerald aka the HANDSOME family to tear the roof off the Baby Box. There’s pure royalty in the house in the other rooms too … Check press for full details. And GIVE GENEROUSLY. All proceeds go to GMHC and the Terrence Higgins Trust.
Saturday November 26th, 2016 I head to Windsor to join the Queen of rave – the ever fabulous Lottie – in the Firestation basement for some electronic disco rave mayhem. Don’t miss it
Following on from Mutiny UK last week (and weekly line up that has included Charlie Dark, Rocky & Diesel and Marcia Carr amongst many others) I am honoured to join the ranks of some of dance’s music finest and take my place behind the decks for the Echoes party this Thursday 24th of November at Ace Hotel London Shoreditch. I will be digging into the favourite parts of my personal collection so expect plenty of the soul, funk and disco music that has influenced me along with the pick of today’s music that is turning me on. The Jocks N Nerds editor Marcus Agerman Ross will be warming things up from 7pm with his strictly vinyl-only selection.
Mr Scruff, Paulette & Rob Bright will be playing their eclectic sounds in our Public Bar on Wednesday 23rd November.
This event is the afterparty for the launch of Tim Lawrence’s book ‘Life & Death on a New York Dancefloor’ and although tickets for the book launch have sold out, the afterparty is a free event open to all.
Come and join us for a wonderful evening of music within the confines of our stunning bar.
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something sexy. Here is a one-take house mix made in celebration of the upcoming Girlz B Like 1st Birthday party at the Book Club in Shoreditch on Sunday October 23rd. It’s a boogie to bruk, disco to deep, eclectic to electronic feast so dress up to get down, get on the floor to dance off, feel free to download at your leisure and don’t be a stranger. That’s all.
